branding at the world cup 2006

The world cup has launched in Germany, and the matchs are really exciting.

anyway, do u ever observe the advertisement board which are around the field? i did, it's amazing for me, there are certainly put on the big company brand such as, Coca cola,Mcdonald's, adidas, toshiba, fujifilm and soon, those are really huge company,and some company have changed their logo, for example,FUJIFILM, i remember fujifilm has a logo before using the transformative types and combined together with its name, white color on the green background. It used to show on the ad board before whenever, but this time, i saw they just use the company name.

I don't know the reason about that , but in my opinion, i think it's really advanced decision. maybe fujifilm changed their logo to become a logotype which just uses designed types to present the company identity. Actually, the words is far more understandable than graphic elements, u can image when u drive a car on the street, u will look at the billborad, if a company show the logo here, u might not remember that, it's too fast and the logo is not easy to be recalled, then if there is a logotype using types of the company name, at least u will know what that company call , right? words is more advanced to compare with the symbol, that's why the words replaced the symbolic period in the past history.

Then, we can find there are a lot of company especially the big company designed their logo using the logo type rather than graphic approach at present. It is able to make the company identity looks simple, but easy to remember and understood, that's the new trend or effective approach to design a logo, and also has been a new challenge for typography and the designer.
